The series
Mayor of Kingstown
Since 2021 Jeremy Renner has led Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon’s crime drama as Mike McLusky — the man who keeps an uneasy peace between police, prisoners and street gangs in a Michigan town where the prison business is the only business. It is the role members ask about more than any other, and one of Renner’s most demanding: he has led every season while also serving as an executive producer.
Season 4, which ended on 28 December 2025, pushed Mike into a gang war as new players fought to fill the vacuum left by the Russians — and it earned the series a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, the strongest reviews of its run.
Season 5 — the final season
Paramount+ confirmed in January 2026 that Mayor of Kingstown will conclude with a fifth season of eight episodes. Production began in Pittsburgh in March 2026 and wrapped in the summer; a premiere date has not yet been announced.
The final season picks up after the death of Tracy McLusky, with David Morse joining as FBI agent Russell Hardy — a true lawman whose arrival threatens to expose everything Mike has buried. Renner, Edie Falco, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa and Derek Webster all return.
